This Time Lapse Mural on Glass is yet another project done during the Covid Quarantine. We could all use a hug right about now, and since even that is not possible, this simple painting on the doors of the Kids Ministry Center at my church is my way of showing a little love.

I live in Arizona, and we are now in the first phase of reopening.  And while my church is continuing to livestream services, they will be opening their doors this coming weekend for the first time since this Covid nightmare started. I’m actually blown away by all the safety measures my church is implementing, as they’re going above and beyond what is required by law.  But what that means for children is, for the time being, they’ll walk passed the doors of their beloved “Grace Express” and not be able to go in.  I honestly don’t know who that’s hardest on:  the children, or the volunteers who serve in Kids Ministry and miss them so much.

I guess that’s where the idea for this mural was born.  I tried to put myself in the shoes of those leaders and convey what they would most want the children to know during this transitional period. Number one, they are loved. Number two, they are missed. And number three, they can’t wait to see them.

While I tried my best to paint cartoon versions of these people I hold in such high esteem, I could never do them justice. But, hopefully, they see this simple mural for what it really is…a hug.
