Simple French Toast
For me, cooking a Down-Home Breakfast means I don't have to go shopping for any special ingredients. You just use pantry staples. That is definitely the case with this Down-Home & Simple French Toast, and yet, it is so delicious.

To make this simple French Toast
You don't really need a recipe, you kind of measure everything with your heart. I usually figure one egg for every two pieces of toast, so you'll first have to decide how much you're making.
Whisk everything together in a shallow dish that will fit a slice of bread. I usually use a pie plate. Then toast the bread to ensure the french toast isn't soggy. Once toasted, dip the bread into the egg mixture one at a time, flipping it over once to get it fully coated on both sides. Then immediately fry it on a hot skillet with a little olive oil. When it's cooked on both sides, serve on a plate, put a pat of butter on top and drizzle with syrup. (Optional: sprinkle with powdered sugar) Yum!
