Description

This Red Chile Sauce made from chile powder is simple, delicious, and versatile. It comes from the cookbook "New Mexico Dishes" by Philomena Romero, published in 1970. While it's long out of print, the recipe is a popular one used by many today. It can be made with or without the ground beef.

Instructions

  1. To make this Red Chile Sauce

    Brown lean ground beef in Tbsp. hot oil. Add Four. Mix well and cook for 3 minutes. Remove from fire and add 1/4 to 1/2 cup chile powder. Mix well. Add water. Place back on burner, stir, and bring to boil. Add salt, garlic salt, and oregano. Lower heat and let simmer 10 minutes.

    *If you choose to omit the ground beef, cook everything in the same order, minus the ground beef.
