New Mexico Green Chile Cheeseburger

This Green Chile Cheeseburger is a favorite in New Mexico where we put our delicious Hatch green chile on everything! So, when summer comes and it's time to fire up the grill, I always go back to my New Mexico roots and create my favorite burger. Hatch chile is definitely the star of this cheeseburger, but I also put caramelized onion on it, and I spread a little fresh guacamole on the top bun. The result is an extra flavorful and juicy cheeseburger.

    Most everyone knows how to make a cheeseburger, so this isn't really a recipe so much as it is inspiration for a great way to make one. So be sure to check out the video. In New Mexico, we're big on cheeseburgers that are topped with Hatch green chile. It really is tough to beat. 

    Aside from having some good green chile on hand, he only tips I have is, form your patties first, then season on both sides before cooking. This helps achieve the best flavor and texture. I also make the patties larger than the buns to allow for shrinkage.

    It's also a good idea to caramelize those onions first, because that takes a while. It's always helpful when you have all your ingredients ready to go when that burger hits the grill. The guacamole in this burger is also a fabulous addition.
