Homemade Stuffing
This easy recipe for Homemade Stuffing with Apples and Pecans is on my list of favorite side dishes. It's got all the classic flavors you want from a stuffing, but then add to that apples and pecans, and it just puts this over the top! To make this homemade stuffing
Cut bread into cubes. Place cut pieces onto cookie sheet and bake at 200º until bread becomes dry. Transfer to large mixing bowl and let cool. Heat large skillet over stove and melt butter. Once melted, add chopped onion and celery and sauté. When onion gets translucent, add chopped apples and pecans and cook just a few minutes longer. Take skillet off stove and pour contents over bread cubes. Toss in all the herbs and salt and pepper and mix. Preheat oven to 350º. In a separate large bowl, whisk together eggs and chicken broth. Pour over bread mixture and gently mix until well incorporated. Take additional butter and coat casserole/baking dish. Transfer your bread mixture into it. Cover with foil and bake covered for 40 minutes. Remove foil and let bake an additional 40 minutes until top is golden brown.
