Ingredients

For the egg wash you will need:

Instructions

  1. To make these dinner rolls

Put 2 cups lukewarm water in large mixing bowl. Add in dry yeast and sugar, and mix just enough to where it dissolves. Let stand 5 minutes. It should become frothy. Mix in kosher salt and 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Quickly stir, then add flour. If using electric stand mixer with dough hook, start at low speed, then increase to medium low. Dough should become tacky. Take dough out of mixing bowl and place on floured surface. Knead by hand a few minutes longer, until ball forms and dough is no longer sticky. Rest dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and set in warm place until dough has doubled in size. (About 1 hour)

Remove the dough onto lightly floured surface and knead briefly. Divide dough to form desired number of rolls. (About 16) Place on greased baking sheet or pan. Leave an inch apart if you want them to stand alone, or place closer together for pull-apart rolls. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 30 minutes.

    Preheat oven to 425º F.

Whisk together egg and water or milk in a small bowl to make egg wash. Remove plastic wrap and brush tops of rolls with egg wash. Lightly sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Bake until golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
