Not your average Joes

Sloppy Josés

The title says it all. These Sloppy Josés are not your average Sloppy Joes. This is a Mexican version with Hatch green chile and salsa...and they're cooked in beer. (The alcohol cooks out, but the beer makes the meat more tender and deepens the flavor. )

Instructions

  1. Brown hamburger meat in large skillet. Remove any rendered fat. Add in chopped onion and sauté a few minutes. Then add in minced garlic, the Hatch green chile, the chile powder, salt and beans. Mix to combine. Pour in beer and stir well. Let it come to a boil, cover with a lid and lower burner. Let it simmer 15 minutees. (If meat appears to be drying out, add in more beer.) Spoon meat mixture into hamburger buns and enjoy while hot.
