When it comes to classic Mexican comfort food, Fideos is high on the list. This dish is perfect in its simplicity, and it also happens to be very inexpensive to make.
Heat a large skillet on stovetop over medium high. Put just enough vegetable oil in it to coat the bottom of the pan. When hot, add in fideos and stir continuously while they begin to toast. Add in chopped onion and continue mixing until most of the fideos are golden brown in color. Add in can of tomato sauce. Stir. Add in water. Stir. Mix in seasonings. Let it come to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes until fideos are cooked tender. Then remove from burner, let cool a few minutes, and enjoy!
